Interview  about Surinam and the Netherlands with the artist.  Music, Buffet.

Kurt Nahar (Suriname, 1972) makes socially critical art installations and multimedia work. Nahar is also a poet. Kurt Nahar is inspired by Dadaism. Objects from our daily lives are endowed with different meaning in his work. He combines vibrantly coloured acrylic paint with collage material, creating fascinating effects in his work. Nahar investigates political and sociological subject matter in his work, such as the precarious relationship between the constitutional state and human rights in Suriname, moral decline and political and ethnic division. He aims to confront his audience with topics that people in Suriname generally tend to avoid. This presentation concludes Kurt Nahar's three-month residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.
