Françoise Magrangeas (1949-2011).
Women are the main characters in her paintings. Françoise tried to depict a new type of woman in her work: feminine, sensual, voluptuous, humorous and independent. She is self-assured, but most importantly, without complexes, placed towards a mise en scène. With her work, Françoise aims to remind us at the pleasure and laughter unseen behind a couch. Francoise Magrangeas made her paintings on textiles; antique linen undershirts, nightgowns or dresses, which she prepared before use, sewing or gluing the fabrics together until they were hard enough to be drawn on or painted.
